STEJJER IMFEWĦA. 2015-2016

The Project

Spices and flowers have been used all over the world in variety of cultures and traditions. Be it for cooking, celebrating, mourning or simply just appreciating them, spices and flowers have a unique identity and story in ones heritage.

The Stejjer Imfewħa project is the second of its kind, following up from the successful Ħwawar u Fjuri 2014 project that highlighted human experiences and stories regarding the use of herbs and flowers in kitchens, worship, love & romance, grief & sorrow and for beauty.

Stejjer Imfewħa intends to be an artistic heritage project that aims to create, preserve and communicate the historical and cultural significance of spices and flowers, which will be documented for future generations.

How will the project run?

A total of 5 informal workshops will be organized. Participants and invited artists will engage in 3 'encounter' workshops where intercultural and multigenerational dialogues will take place. Artistic narratives will be explored, interpreted and eventually delivered across 2 ‘Creative Sessions’, with collaborating artists, using any form of visual, written or audible art.
