What you need to know.

The project will be divided into 6 stages:

ENCOUNTERS

The encounters will take the form of informal thematic workshops/sessions between participants. Multi-media artists, who will be encouraged to produce works of art individually, will also attend these workshops to offer support to participants. We will endeavour to have as much diversity as possible with regards to age groups as well as ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds to make this project as fulfiling and interesting as possible.

CREATIVITY SESSIONS

These will follow the encounters and will see small participants-artist groups meet up informally to allow the participants to explore and interpret their journey throughout the encounters in an artistic way. The works produced from these sessions will be published in the publication (or used in the theatre production).

RESEARCH

The project will collect information from the encounters, but also from outside the encounters by speaking to people who hold traditional knowledge on the uses of spices and flowers.

PUBLICATION

This will be a ‘coffee-table’ type publication which will allow the people who did not participate in the project to still take on a journey of discovery through the artistic contributions of the participants and artists. It will also serve as documentation of the traditional knowledge gathered throughout the project and the narratives/outputs from Hwawar u Fjuri.

THEATRE PRODUCTION

Similar to the publication, the theatre production will bring the project to people who did not participate. The production will be based on the narratives and outputs of the Creativity Sessions and Encounters.

MULTI-SENSORY SESSIONS

Open to the general public. Participants will explore and interact with spices and flowers and the narratives and traditional knowledge which came out of the encounters in an artistic and creative way that will challenge their previous conceptions. Participants of the sessions will be invited to taste, smell and feel different flowers and spices while being taken through an artistic journey through the narratives.
